“Bringing Learning to Life”
Our school meals are provided by Hertfordshire Catering Ltd (HCL). HCL are passionate about providing the best lunches using fresh and ethically sourced ingredients to help children learn and grow. Their primary school meals are bursting with tasty, healthy ingredients to help your child really enjoy every lunchtime.
HCL and school staff work hard together to:
Encourage your children to try different foods.
Create an enjoyable and social dining experience.
Provide peace of mind for you, knowing your child is eating well and making healthy choices.
Include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Save you time – no more daily packed lunch hassle!
All menus are deigned with HCL's in-house Registered Nutritionists in line with government standards. The primary school menus are also Food for Life accredited (Silver). Children have a choice of two hot main meals, a jacket potato or a filled roll each day, and they make their selection at morning registration. Menus are available on the website and are emailed to parents/carers twice a year so they can discuss with their children what they are going to choose to eat.
All children from Reception to Year 2 receive UFSM (Universal Free School Meals) as part of the government initiative. Children in year 3 and 4 pay for school meals on Arbor (unless they are in receipt of free school meals) and the cost is currently £3.45 per day.
Are you eligible for free school meals? If you are in receipt of certain benefits, your child may be entitled to free school meals. Even if your child is having UFSM it is important that you make an application as the school receives additional funding for eligible children.
You can check if you qualify for free school meals and register online here.
You can also register if your child is in year 3 and 4. This way, you can check if you are entitled to free school meals and, again, this will ensure that the school does not miss out on any additional funding
If your child has a food allergy, ie. to nuts, it is important that you let us know and apply online via Herts Catering special menu link..
Infant children (Reception to year 2) receive fresh fruit or raw vegetables as a mid morning snack which is provided free of charge by the government.
Milk is available for all children and needs to be ordered directly via Dairy Link. Milk is free for children up until they turn 5 and it is then payable via the Dairy Link website. If you are eligible for free school meals, milk can be ordered free of charge via the school office.
