Friends

We are very lucky that we have an active parent fundraising committee; known as the Friends of Therfield School. Our group of parents work together to plan a range of events and experiences for our pupils and/or parents to raise funds for the school. Money raised from the Friends is used to directly impact on our pupils. This could be through purchasing resources, workshops, trips or other experiences.

Some examples of Friends fundraising events include:

  • Quiz Nights

  • Race Nights

  • Family Bingo

  • Charity Meals

  • Fashion Shows

  • Pyjama film night

  • Mother’s Day/Father’s Day gift table

  • Raffles

  • Children's Parties

  • Themed events

Over recent years, Friends have positively impacted our pupils by funding:

  • 16 new Chromebooks

  • Large-scale entrance hall mosaic project

  • A new reading scheme

  • Maths resources

  • Workshops in school; pottery, art sculptures, internet safety, anti-bullying, mindfulness, British Values

  • Forest school overalls

  • Wooden pirate ship for the field

  • Wooden train for the playground

  • Coach travel for the end of year whole school trip

Message from the Friends:

A big welcome to all parents of Therfield First School. We are the Friends of Therfield School (FOTS).

1. It’s for the kids!

The role of every parent association is to better the school experience for EVERY child. Not only is it extra funds for the school but the events we organise provide a really fun experience for both parents and children.

2. Be part of a community

It’s an opportunity to build a strong community with a common goal, making the overall experience of your child’s school better for everyone.

3. Raise important funds

With stretched school budgets, the work you do to help the school funds is as important as ever. You can help support many projects for children in schools like buying new equipment and improving libraries and play areas.

We’re calling all parents, family and friends to be a part of this too. It doesn’t have to be a full time commitment, no matter how much time you can give, any help is hugely appreciated.

Some of our fun events that have taken place over the past year: Easter Egg hunt, Christmas disco, charity meals, pyjama parties, camp out and fashion show.

Please contact the school office if you would like to join our Friends committee or have any ideas, suggestions or contacts for the future.  We can point you in the right direction of who to speak to.
