Maths Meetings
In Duckpuddle Class, lessons are regularly launched with our exciting, fast-paced Maths Meetings to help develop our children's fluency skills. The children work on mental maths skills, including times tables and number bonds, to build their confidence and support all areas of maths learning.
Maths Lessons
Across the school, we follow the White Rose Maths curriculum. All lessons involve small learning steps to develop concepts. Children learn and practise the skill, before moving on to linked problem solving and reasoning tasks. Children are encouraged to discuss their learning to further develop their reasoning skills. Where children grasp the concept of the lesson and demonstrate full understanding, Greater Depth Tasks are available to all.
Children at Therfield First School have access to a wide bank of resources and high-quality manipulatives to support their learning. Where appropriate, children can choose which resource they think will help them during a given lesson.
