French in Rooks Nest
Pupils begin learning French when they enter Rooks Nest Class, in Year 3. French is taught as a weekly discrete lesson, although wherever possible, and appropriate, links are made to the class topic. Biannually, we also take part in a French day to help us consolidate our prior learning.
We learn important words and phrases in French that we could use in everyday life. In every lesson, we listen to stories or songs in French and recite, practise and speak words and phrases solo or in pairs. This year, we have learnt the alphabet, general phrases, how to talk about our holiday and hobbies, transport, our school and how to tell the time. Bien fait to us!
