Phonics
The school uses Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised as its core phonics scheme from the Foundation Stage to the end of Year 1 (end of Phase 5). Children take part in high-quality, fast-paced daily phonics sessions, led by the class teacher. Children in Year 2 onwards, that are not yet secure within the phonics phases, will either be taught within the phonics phase that they are working within, or will be part of a phonics intervention or booster group to secure gaps.
Phonics assessments are carried out on a half termly basis. Pupils read decodable texts, matched to their current phonic phase and knowledge (See reading section for more information).
The school is very well resourced and organised with Little Wandles Letters and Sounds Revised phonics resources and books.
