Rooks Nest

Welcome to Rooks Nest Class!

We are a mixed class of Year 3 and 4 pupils. We are the oldest class in the school which means we get to have lots of responsibility eg assembly monitors, play leaders and buddies to the reception children. Our class teachers are Mrs O’Brien and Mrs Jordan and our teaching assistants are Mrs Burgess and Mrs Drage.

In Rooks Nest, we always try to do our best work in every lesson. We have lots of fun learning and we do like a challenge. In Maths and English we challenge ourselves using the chilli challenges - warm, hot, scorching and volcanic.

Each half term we have a new topic and this year our topics are Romans, Making a Difference, Walk like an Egyptian, Chocolate, Birds Eye View and Rainforests. At the start of every topic we have a Big Bang which gets us excited about the topic ahead and we will be making our own robots for our Robot topic in the Autumn term.

We are very lucky in this school as we get specialist teachers teaching us PE and Music. At Christmas, our class get the lead parts in the nativity and we perform an end of year play in the summer term to our families

On alternate years we go either on a residential trip to Kingswood where we learn lots of new skills and try new activities such as zip wire and crate stacking, or to Grafham Water where we take part in lots of water activities. Not to mention going out for dinner together afterwards!

We love being in Rooks Nest as our teacher makes learning fun!
